Issa Rae has signed on to star in the comedy American Princess for producer Paul Feig, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The film centers on an American woman (Rae) who moves to London, where she’s drawn into a world of wealth and high society and falls in love in a very unexpected way.

Stella Meghie (Everything, Everything) is set to direct the picture from a script by Amy Aniobi, who has worked with Rae on HBO’s Insecure as a writer and producer.

Feig will produce the comedy, which is being set up at Fox, alongside Jessie Henderson via their Feigco Entertainment banner. Brendan O’Brien will also produce.

Rae was the co-creator of Insecure, and has gone on to write several episodes of the hit TV series. The show garnered the actress a Golden Globe nomination for best actress in a comedy series last year, and won a handful of awards, including Outstanding Comedy Series, at the Black Reel Awards for Television.

Feig is coming off his latest film, the crime drama/comedy A Simple Favor starring Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick. He is taking steps towards setting up his next directorial effort, Last Christmas, with Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones) and Henry Golding (Crazy Rich Asians) slated to star.
