The Innocents Season 1 Episode 7 Recap
In the previous episode of Netflix’s The Innocents, June left on a plane for Norway with Halvorson, and Harry went after her with John. The Innocents Season 1 Episode 7 began with a flashback to the start of Harry and June’s romance.
Accessing Memories
On the road in Norway, June revealed to Halvorson that she could access the memories of the people she shifted into. He hypothesized that when the gene mutation passed from mother to daughter, it evolved. June also told Halvorson about Kam, telling him that she was like her. Halvorson asked June to not speak of her at Sanctum since it could cause instability. He might have suspected that Kam was Freya.
Trust Your Eyes
Harry left behind a flash drive and a note to Christine, telling her to trust her eyes. The drive contained the June/Lil video. When Harry called her from the Bergen airport, she was able to track him with Doug’s help. Christine left Lewis with a caretaker to go after her son.
This Is June
The road to Sanctum was a difficult one. Halvorson nearly crashed when they came upon a wounded deer. He told June not to watch as he snapped its neck, but she looked anyway. They hiked down to a small boat, which took them across the fjord to Sanctum. June met Runa and Sigrid, but Elena could not join them for dinner. Halvorson explained that June’s presence was difficult for Elena since love was her trigger. June would have to wait at least a day to see Elena. Runa called June “Freya,” alarming Halvorson.
No Boats
Harry and John found the car Halvorson left by the road. They hiked down, but there was no boat to take them across. As they walked, John slipped and injured his leg. He sadly commented that Elena had gone the farthest she could from him.
Elena’s Memories
June disobeyed Halvorson and sought out Elena. Elena and June went out in the boat to talk. When June told her that she was in love with Harry, Elena told her she couldn’t have love. June and Elena argued, triggering June into shift state. They fell out of the boat, and Elena and June touched in the water. June had shifted into Elena, but Elena didn’t fall into a trance.
Halvorson brought June into his interrogation room. When asked who she was, June said she was Elena. June accessed Elena’s memories from the Pennines Five incident. Elena had been having an affair with Lewis. The love she felt caused her to shift into Lewis. Elena walked around a pub, touching and shifting into four more people. It was possible the victims were “trapped” and unable to live full lives because she had not shifted back in between them.
Defense Mechanism
Harry and John arrived at Sanctum during the interrogation. While Sigrid treated John’s injury, Harry helped June remember who she was, and June shifted back. Later, when Halvorson alone with Harry, he explained his theory that the shifting is an evolved defense mechanism. He tricked Harry into going back into the interrogation room. Then Halvorson locked the door and left him. The episode ended with Steinar back in Norway, ominously buying rope and a knife.
