The Innocents Season 1 Episode 2 Recap

In the previous episode of Netflix’s The Innocents, June used her shapeshifter powers to transform into Steinar. As we dive into The Innocents Season 1 Episode 2, June is still in Steinar’s form with the real Steinar in a trance.

“It’s Not Possible”

Harry struggled with June’s current state as Steinar. At first, he didn’t believe it was really her. When June finally shifted back, they decided to continue on to London as planned. June searched Steinar’s clothes for hints of who he was. They found Norwegian coins and his cell phone, which was cued to a video. The video was of June’s mother Elena, asking her to trust Steinar and let him take her to Norway so they would be together. Harry pointed out that John had said that Elena had epilepsy like June. Therefore, they theorized that John knew about June’s ability to shapeshift because her mother had the same ability.

Christine and John

The Innocents Season 1 Episode 2 Recap

Christine Polk, Harry’s mother, was in a bind without Harry. Who would take care of Harry’s father, Lewis? Meanwhile, June’s father John McDaniel, realized she was missing. He took a crowbar into the high school to grab June’s things from her locker. Christine, a detective inspector, was called to check on John after the incident. He told her June was missing, and Christine made a comment about her son being unreliable.

While going through the contents of June’s locker, John found a letter from Harry and realized the two had left together. Christine said she would wait to report them as missing since teenagers always come back.

Where’s June?

Steinar and Alf’s search for Harry and June led them to Dean, the man who sold Harry the car. They roughed him up, and he eventually told them where Harry and June were headed. Christine was called to investigate what happened and noticed Dean was wearing her husband’s ring. He eventually told her where Harry and June were headed as well.

Respond

Halvorson conducted a test on Elena. He showed her slides, and she would respond with, “Clear,” while he monitored her body’s reaction to the images. She appeared to have a seizure, but Runa later referred to it as going into “shift state”.

Steinar  told Halvorson that June shifted, but he had not shown her the video yet. Halvorson and Runa celebrated June’s ability to shift, saying that it was rare for both mother and daughter to have the ability.

Agoraphobia

John sensed that Ryan knew June would run away. He turned off the power to Ryan’s house to get him to talk, but took off to see Christine. By himself, Ryan left his house and got locked out. He ran into the main house, but soon Alf and Steinar entered, looking for June. When John came home, Ryan said he’d tell him where June and Harry went, but only if he could come along. In the car, Ryan struggled to keep calm, and John ignored a call from Christine.

London

Harry and June finally made it to London, and the two decided to stay in a drug den with Dean’s friend. Steinar and Alf found them, which led to a car chase. Harry crashed into a parked car, and the couple was forced to take off on foot.
