Shenmue I & II are being re-released for the PS4, Xbox One and PC, and Sega has teamed up with YouTuber Adam Koralik and comedian Imran Yusuf to capture their experience visiting Ryo Hazuki’s footsteps in Dobuita Street.
In Shenmue, Ryo is a young martial artist who is on the path to seek vengeance against Lan Di, the man who killed his father. The setting is Japan, and the city of Yokosuka has been recaptured in the game. Koralik and Yusuf visit the actual locations seen and check out the stores and vending machines.
Check out their journey below.
Shenmue I & II will be available on August 21st for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
Shenmue I was originally released on the Dreamcast in 1999 and featured a living world filled with lots of activities including collecting capsules, playing arcade games, buying food, and arm wrestling. This has helped pave the way for future games including the Yakuza series where the main character can step away from the main story to pursue life’s pleasures. The main story had Ryo Hazuki investigating the whereabouts of Lan Di, and that included asking about the location of sailors, which Mega64 turned into a funny skit.
