Variety reports veteran actor Christopher Lloyd has joined the upcoming NBC pilot for their new comedy series Guess Who Died. Lloyd is set to portray the role of Mort, a crusty and grumpy man of mystery and wealth who putters “along slowly in his golf cart at Las Esperanzado Senior Community.” He will join previously-announced cast members Hector Elizondo (Pretty Woman), Beth Lacke (Mr. 3000) and Holland Taylor (Two and a Half Men) in the single-camera comedy pilot.

The series is created by legendary television producer Norman Lear and Peter Tolan. It is based on Lear’s personal experiences of working well past the tender age of 90 and Deadline states the series is “described as a humorous and inspiring look at the shared joys and challenges we all experience at any stage of life.” Guess Who Died is set at the Las Esperanzado Senior Community and will center on Elizondo’s Murray, “a retired music executive who is positive and upbeat with sparkling eyes and a keen, sharp and wonderful sense of humor.” Holland will portray his sister-in-law, Patricia.

Lear and Tolan will executive produce the series as well via their respective production companies, Act III Productions and The Cloudland Company, alongside Lear’s producing partner Brent Miller.

Best known for his role as Doc Brown in the Back to the Future franchise, Lloyd’s next film, the road trip comedy Boundaries, is set to have its world premiere at South by Southwest in March. He will also make an appearance on the upcoming rebooted season of Roseanne, according to star Whitney Cummings.

Guess Who Died has no premiere date as of yet. Will you be checking out the show when it airs on NBC? Let us know in the comments below.
