The Paramount Network has announced they’re partnering up with Sony Pictures Television to develop a US version of the hit BBC series, Accused, with acclaimed producer David Shore (The Good Doctor, House) set to executive produce.

Based on the critically-acclaimed and BAFTA and International Emmy-winning UK format, Accused is an anthology series in which each stand-alone episode follows a different character as they make their way to court to hear whether they’ve been found guilty of a crime. As we approach the verdict, their backstories, personal journeys, and the events that led up to them being accused of the crime play out and leave the viewers questioning whether each of the people is really guilty or not.

Production partners to include Shore Z Productions and All3Media America, executive producers for Accused include Shore, All3Media America’s Greg Lipstone and Nina Lederman and Erin Gunn. Brad Gardner, Senior Vice President, Development and Original Programming, Paramount Network and TV Land, will oversee the project for the network.

The original version of Accused was created by Jimmy McGovern and ran from 2010 to 2012. Some of the actors that appeared across the anthology include Naomie Harris, Christopher Eccleston, Peter Capaldi, Sean Bean, Olivia Colman, Robert Sheehan, and Andy Serkis.

Paramount Network (formerly Spike TV) launches January 18, 2018.
