The Japanese games market had a pretty successful 2017, and that's largely due to the Switch. The hardware market saw a 172.9% increase in 2017 over 2016, and a 103.8% increase in software. Switch was the best-selling hardware with 3,407,158 units sold, while PlayStation 4 took second place with 1,935,247 units sold, and 3DS hit 1,827,131.
