The New Mutants teaser scares up the superhero genre

The New Mutants

With all the attention on X-Men: Dark PhoenixDeadpool 2, and Gambit these days, many people forget about the other X-Men film that’s coming out. That film would be Josh Boone’s The New Mutants. Afterwards, The New Mutants attracted some of Hollywood’s hottest young actors. They include Maisie Williams (HBO’s “Game of Thrones”), Anya Taylor-Joy (Split), and Charlie Heaton (Netflix’s “Stranger Things”). On the VERY early hours of Friday the 13th, Fox has given fans a first look at the horror/superhero film. Check it out!

In the beginning, the film was always advertised as the dark side of the X-Men universe. So judging from the teaser, that’s exactly what we’re getting. It’s also interesting to see a superhero film in such an intimate setting. From the looks of it, most of the film will take place inside the government facility that these mutants are being held in. In other words, this is something we haven’t seen before in a superhero movie. Not to mention, the teaser trailer makes the film look frightfully scary. It even has the type of jump scares that you typically see in a horror movie trailer.

However, does that automatically make The New Mutants a good film? We shall see. But the teaser trailer definitely has brought up my interest in the movie.

So what do you think of the trailer? Sound off with your thoughts in the comments section below!

The New Mutants stars Maisie Williams as Wolfsbane, Anya Taylor-Joy as Magik, Charlie Heaton as Cannonball, Blu Hunt as Mirage, Henry Zaga as Sunspot, and Alice Braga as Dr. Cecilia Reyes.

Held in a secret facility against their will, five new mutants have to battle the dangers of their powers, as well as the sins of their past. They aren’t out to save the world — they’re just trying to save themselves.

The New Mutants scares theaters on April 13, 2018.
