Blade Runner 2049 new trailer drops hints on the future of replicants

Warner Bros. dropped a new trailer for Alcon Entertainment’s Blade Runner 2049 this morning revealing a little more detail on the replicants and the Blade Runners. LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling) is looking for original Blade Runner on the run, Richard Deckard (Harrison Ford), to get some answers.

In the ominous trailer, we see Los Angeles in 2049, 30 years after the setting to the original film, and looking dreary as ever. Jared Leto plays Neander Wallace, a creepy replicant manufacturer, who wants to make more replicants, but can only make so many. But, somehow K is the key to all of this. Wallace also seems to be teaching his replicants how to become more human, “You do not know what pain is yet. You will learn.” Creepy.

After K battles a replicant (played by Dave Bautista), he is able to find Deckard who has gone into hiding. Deckard’s reason for going into hiding: ‘I covered my tracks, scrambled the records. We were being hunted!’ We then cut to scenes of Deckard and K being attacked and on the run. Wallace, on the other hand, sends his replicants to find K.

It’s great seeing Robin Wright in the film. She probably plays K’s superior and has an intense scene with Leto’s right-hand replicant, who is looking for K. Ana de Armas also stars in the film. Denis Villeneuve serves as the director of the sequel to the 1982 sci-fi thriller.

Blade Runner 20149 Official Synopsis:

Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.

Blade Runner 2049 opens in theaters on October 6th, 2017.
