Marvel Television is preparing two new Marvel series on the Freeform network. (The network is geared towards the teenage and young adult crowd.) As a result, Marvel announced the characters that will be in New Warriors. And of course, we have Freeform releasing a new trailer for Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger.
“Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger” is the story of Tandy Bowen (Olivia Holt) and Tyrone Johnson (Aubrey Joseph) – two teenagers from very different backgrounds, who find themselves burdened and awakened to newly acquired superpowers which are mysteriously linked to one another. Tandy can emit light daggers and Tyrone has the ability to engulf others in darkness. They quickly learn they are better together than apart, but their feelings for each other make their already complicated world even more challenging.

Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger will have a different vibe from the other Marvel series.
The trailer is looking promising, and it’s definitely a nice change of pace from the other Marvel shows. Furthermore, we get a glimpse of young love as they deal with their powers and the drama that surrounds them. It definitely does a lot of teasing as we see lots of running and plenty of scenes in the dark. Lastly, we see a dark figure on top of a rooftop wearing a cloak as it sways in the wind. (Hint: That’s Cloak.) Since this is an origin story, I wonder how many episodes will it take for us to finally see Tyrone become the shadowy figure.
Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger will premiere in early 2018 with 10 one-hour episodes. The series stars Olvia Holt, Aubrey Joseph, Andrea Roth, Gloria Reuben, Miles Mussenden, Carl Lundstedt, James Saito and J.D. Evermore.
Marvel Television and ABC Signature Studios are co-producing the series. Joe Pokaski (Underground, Heroes) serves as the executive producer and showrunner, with Marvel’s Head of Television Jeph Loeb (Marvel’s The Punisher, Marvel’s The Defenders) and Jim Chory (Marvel’s The Punisher, Marvel’s The Defenders) serving as executive producers. Gina Prince-Bythwood (Love & Basketball) directed the first episode.
