People come to the Gathering to escape the madness of the outside world, kick back, and spark up some Gorilla Glue or White Widow in peace. Going out of your way to bust people for carrying or sharing bud while turning a blind eye to the dealers slinging hard, lethal narcotics shows exactly where the priorities lie. They aren't trying to protect anyone; they are looking for easy targets and quick headlines to justify their budgets. It’s a pathetic flex by a system that refuses to evolve, punishing a community for the exact same plant you can legally buy in a boutique dispensary just down the highway.
But the authorities aren't the only ones who dropped the ball this year. We need to have a serious conversation about the lineup, because Insane Clown Posse completely missed the mark. Hosting a massive underground festival where cannabis culture is woven into the very fabric of the event, and deliberately leaving Kottonmouth Kings off the bill, is an absolute travesty. You don't throw the ultimate counter-culture party and ignore the kings of the underground smoke scene.
KMK built the soundtrack for exactly this kind of rebellion. Their absence wasn't just noticeable; it left a gaping hole in the energy of the entire weekend. If ICP wants to keep the roots of this movement alive and give the people what they actually want to hear, they need to fix this oversight. You can't claim to represent the underground while icing out the heavy hitters who helped pave the way. Stop sweating the weed, start hunting the real poison, and for the love of the culture, put the Kings back on the Gathering stage where they belong. #SMH
