Celebrate Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’s 30th Anniversary with first Reunion Special photos & new merch

In celebration of The Fresh of Prince of Bel-Air 30th anniversary, HBO Max has released the first photos from their newest unscripted special, providing our first glimpse of the long-awaited reunion of the iconic 90s sitcom’s original cast. One of the photos also teased a special guest in the form of Jane Hubert, who is the original Aunt Viv of the series, as she and titular star Will Smith will finally have a one-on-one conversation for the first time 27 years since Hubert’s controversial exit due to conflicts with Smith. In addition, The Fresh Prince clothing brand has also announced today’s launch of a new limited-edition capsule in honor of the show’s anniversary. The 30-piece unisex collection – known as the “30th Anniversary” – features an array of premium apparel and accessories, including jackets, tees, sweatshirts, sweatpants, hats, masks, bags and more that are inspired by The Fresh Prince himself, Will Smith, along with his Grammy Award-winning music partner DJ Jazzy Jeff. It is exclusively available at the brand’s newly launched online store.

“Very rarely do television programs have such a significant cultural impact 30 years after its release, but to generate this type of excitement in 2020 is really a testament to the fans,” DJ Jazzy Jeff said in the press release. “This is really a celebration of a legacy and it’s incredible watching the series evolve into a fashion brand and influence an entirely new generation.”

The “30th Anniversary” collection also pays homage to Smith’s Philadelphia roots and also pulls inspiration from his Bel-Air experience in the show, such as starring on the Bel-Air Academy basketball team. Each piece features patterns and prints inspired by the show and the fashion trends of the 90s.

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air reunion special will feature titular lead Will Smith along with returning cast members Tatyana Ali, Karyn Parsons, Joseph Marcell, Daphne Maxwell Reid, Alfonso Ribeiro, and DJ Jazzy Jeff. It will be directed by Marcus Raboy with Rikki Hughes serving as a showrunner and executive producer. Westbrook Media’s Miguel Melendez, Lukas Kaiser and Brad Haugen are also executive producing.

The series ran on-air for six seasons from 1990-1996 on NBC. It notably launched Smith’s acting career after debuting as a hip-hop artist in 1985. The iconic sitcom centered around a teenager from West Philadelphia, who after getting into a fight was sent to California to live with his rich uncle and aunt in their Bel Air mansion. It also starred Tatyana Ali, Karyn Parsons, Joseph Marcell, Daphne Maxwell Reid, Alfonso Ribeiro, Jane Hubert, and the late James Avery, who had passed away in 2013.

Set in the Banks’ home, the one-time special was taped yesterday, September 10 which is also the debut date of the sitcom. The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air reunion special will be available for streaming around Thanksgiving.
