CinemaCon 2019: Sarah Connor steals the show in first Terminator: Dark Fate clip (footage description)

Terminator: Dark Fate - Natalia Reyes, Mackenzie Davis, and Linda Hamilton

One of the biggest highlights from Paramount’s presentation was Terminator: Dark Fate. Tim Miller came on stage to present for the first time the very first footage for the next Terminator film. While introducing the film to the CinemaCon crowd, Miller gave audiences two big pieces of information about the film. The first is that Terminator: Dark Fate is a direct sequel to Terminator 2: Judgement Day. All of the other Terminator films in between aren’t canon anymore.

The second piece of information involves the new Terminator. Miller said that the new Terminator can split into two. Making them more of a formidable foe for our heroes. Now, it’s time for what we’ve been waiting for.

Terminator Dark Fate footage starts with a shot of a freeway bridge in Mexico City. The bridge starts to freeze and an electrical sphere appears on the bridge. There’s a lot of confusion from people about what’s going on. Of course, Terminator fans know that someone is being sent from the future. However, we don’t know if that person is good or bad.

All of a sudden, a naked woman from drops from the bridge to the ground. It’s Grace (Mackenzie Davis). Two Mexican teenagers come to her aid and take her away. Grace is still in a daze from time traveling. Police show up and stop them from taking her. They’re explaining to them that they’re trying to help her, but the cops take the teens away. The police grab Grace and we see through her eyes that cybernetic enhancements. She starts to beat up all of the police officers. Even at this point, we’re still questioning whether or not she’s the terminator.

The teens just thank her for saving their ass. But she’s looking at the guys’ clothes and compares shoe sizes. “Don’t thank me yet,” she said. Grace drives away in his car and his clothes.

Terminator: Dark Fate - Gabriel Luna

Now, we finally see the new Terminator (Gabriel Luna). We don’t know the designation of but he looks like a pure black liquid. Not as metallic as the T-1000 but a pure liquid source that forms into the terminator. Grace warns Dani Ramos (Natalia Reyes) that if she dies, run. Yet a secondary terminator which is a black metallic T-400 comes after them. But in comes the amazing Sarah Connor to save the day. She starts using her high artillery weapon to attack the liquid terminator. Afterward, she busts out with a rocket launcher uses that to attack the other split terminator.

We now see a montage of a lot of random action shots of the new Terminator and Arnold helping the heroes out. In addition, there are a lot of future scenes where Grace is fighting the terminators. There’s also a shot and the new Terminator is attacking a military plane. The footage ends with Sarah Connor throwing the grenade below the bridge where one of the terminators are at and says “I’ll be back”. Grace and Dani look down below and there’s a big explosion.

Terminator: Dark Fate hits theaters on November 1st.
