Tyrese Gibson takes the lead in Teddy Pendergrass biopic
According to The Wrap, Tyrese Gibson is set to portray Teddy Pendergrass in a biopic on the legendary R&B singer from Warner Bros. Pictures.

“I am honored to take this journey. This is the role that I feel I was born to play,” Gibson said in a statement. “Teddy Pendergrass embraced me and before he passed put the responsibility on my shoulders to tell his story. Being here in this time and in this space and moment with Lee Daniels, Donald De Line, Little Marvin and Warner Bros. is an answered prayer. Teddy, I just hope we make you, your wife and family proud… Here we go.”
A director has not yet been announced, but the trade reports that Little Marvin (Amazon’s Them) will write the screenplay chronicling one of the signature performers of smooth ballads of all-time.

The biopic will be produced by Donald De Line (Ready Player One) via his De Line Pictures banner alongside Lee Daniels and Gibson via his Voltron Pictures.
