Zack Snyder believes Ben Affleck is the ‘Best Batman ever’

Director Zack Snyder was instrumental in developing the DC Extended Universe, and he brought on board Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as Flash, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, and Henry Cavill as Superman. Of course, we can’t forget about Ben Affleck, who appeared as Batman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League. Snyder hasn’t forgotten as well since he made a farewell post to the actor while also saying he’s the best Batman ever.

“There was a time above… a time before… there were perfect things… diamond absolutes. But things fall… things on earth. And what falls… is fallen. In the dream, it took me to the light. A beautiful lie… Best Batman ever. Thank you, my friend, for blessing me with that ****ing glorious chin and an amazing heart,” Snyder said via his Vero account. The post also featured an image of Affleck as Batman in his brown trench coat from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

This comes after speculation about whether or not Ben Affleck would be returning as the Caped Crusader. The actor tweeted an article from Deadline that said that he was passing the torch. In addition to portraying the Dark Knight, Affleck was also set to direct and write the upcoming standalone Batman movie, but that role ultimately was given to director Matt Reeves. The actor appeared on Jimmy Kimmel and revealed that he couldn’t come up with a satisfactory script, and ended the interview by saying that he’s not Batman. Even before Reeves took over, there were reports about Affleck wanting out.

There have been a few rumors of who’s going to play Batman in the upcoming film including Armie Hammer. However, the actor revealed to Yahoo that Warner Bros. hasn’t contacted him about it.

For now, we can still expect the Matt Reeves’ The Batman to hit theaters on June 25, 2021.
