Amazon’s Charlotte Walsh Likes to Win looking at Julia Roberts to star

Julia Roberts could be returning to Amazon soon. The star of the psychological thriller Homecoming, another Amazon series, is currently in talks to star in Charlotte Walsh Likes to Win, according to Variety. The limited series will be based on the Jo Piazza novel of the same name, which hit shelves last summer.

The book follows Charlotte Walsh, a candidate in the most hotly-contested midterm Senate race in America. Walsh, a former Silicon Valley executive, moves her and her family return to her rundown hometown in Pennsylvania to run for office. After she arrives, she finds herself totally unprepared for just how dirty her opponent, her peers, and the media are willing to fight. It would mark the actress’s second-ever regular series role.

Jon Robin Baitz will pen the series adaptation as well as serve as executive producer. Roberts will also executive produce under her Red Om banner alongside Lisa Gillan and Marisa Gill. Laura Lewis of Rebelle Media and Paul Lee and Mark Roybal of wiip will also executive produce.

Roberts had previously confirmed she wouldn’t be returning to her role as Heidi Bergman in Homecoming’s second season, but would still serve as executive producer alongside Sam Esmail (Mr. Robot).
