USA’s Suits renewed for ninth and final season

USA Network has renewed Suits for a ninth and final season, Variety has confirmed. Season 9 will consist of 10 episodes.

The back half of Season 8 will debut tonight on USA and will pick up with Louis as the new managing partner of Zane Specter Litt. In a last-ditch effort to unify the team, both Samantha and Alex got their names on the wall and these six episodes will explore their new dynamic, the power shift between Louis, Harvey and Robert, and Katrina’s promotion to senior partner – plus, Donna’s role at the firm and her new love interest.

Creator Aaron Korsh thanked the studio, cast, crew, and writers in a statement, as well as the fans: “And last but never least, to the fans who have stuck with the SUITS family through thick and thin, through can-openers and flashbacks — thank you for always speaking your mind. Without you, I might start to think I’m getting the hang of this writing thing. And once that happens, nobody wins. Suits centers on a fast-paced Manhattan corporate law firm led by legendary lawyer Harvey Specter, his intelligent but delicate partner, Louis Litt, and secretary-turned-COO Donna Paulsen. After surviving leadership turmoil and the loss of key partners, the trio continues to tackle top corporate cases with the support of the formidable Alex Williams and the undeniably talented Katrina Bennett. Muscling her way into the firm, powerhouse attorney Samantha Wheeler joins the ranks of Zane Specter Litt and challenges the status quo. Together, these top minds must rely on their knowledge, wit, and intuition to keep their clients at bay and their firm afloat.

The first half of season 8 premiered last July 16. It stars Gabriel Macht as Harvey Specter, Rick Hoffman as Louis Litt, Sarah Rafferty as Donna Paulsen, Amanda Schull as Katrina Bennett, Dule Hill as Alex Williams and Katherine Heigl as Samantha Wheeler.

From Universal Cable Productions, Suits was created and is executive produced by Aaron Korsh. Doug Liman, David Bartis and Gene Klein of Hypnotic serve as executive producers. Genevieve Sparling, Ethan Drogin and Christopher Misiano also serve as executive producers.
