The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Season 2 Episode 8 Recap
In the previous episode of Amazon’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Susie and Midge celebrated their one year anniversary as manager and comedian on Yom Kippur. In The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel season 2 episode 8, they go on tour together.
The Eisenhower Penis Tour
Midge and Susie went on tour together in the car belonging to Susie’s mother. It was old and technically stolen, but it would get them through their four-city tour. In Washington, D.C., Midge killed it in front of a good crowd, but her set was cut short due to a fire in the kitchen. Fortunately, they were paid the full amount.
In Philadelphia, the room was mostly empty. The motel was disgusting and left Susie with bug bites on her face. Midge had refused to sleep. As the tour went on, Susie and Midge bickered more and more, and Midge had recorded Susie’s snoring. In Harrisburg, unexpected rain shut down the club. By then, they had run out of money, so they slept in the car. For their final show back in New York City, they got stuck in traffic in the Holland Tunnel and were late to the gig.
Potato Salad
While on the way to Harrisburg, Midge phoned home, and Abe mentioned that a party he hadn’t known about was being set up. The mention of potato salad triggered Midge’s memory while on the road. She had forgotten about the baby shower she was throwing for Imogene. Before she had left for the tour, she had taken Imogene to lunch at Stage Deli in an effort to be a better friend.
When she phoned home again, the party was in full swing. She had Abe connect the phone to a speakerphone to talk to Imogene and apologize in front of the whole party. When Midge came home, the house still hadn’t been cleaned after the party. Rose told her Zelda wouldn’t be cleaning it. It was Midge’s mess.
Damsel in Di-Closet
At the gig in New York, the booker called it an audition and refused to pay her. When Susie went after him, he locked her in a closet. Midge called Joel, who came down to get Susie out of the closet and make them pay. He punched the booker in the face and yelled at the owner. They left with the full amount.
