Andrew Lanham adapting The Strange Fascinations of Noah Hypnotik
Screenwriter Andrew Lanham (The Glass Castle, Just Mercy) is adapting The Strange Fascinations of Noah Hypnotik from author David Arnold for Paramount Players, Deadline has confirmed.
The Strange Fascinations of Noah Hypnotik centers on a 16-year-old boy, Noah Oakman (a Bowie believer, concise historian, disillusioned swimmer, son, brother, friend), who gets hypnotized and starts seeing changes in the world around him — except for his Strange Fascinations.

Some of the changes Noah sees include a scar on his mother’s face that wasn’t there before and his best friend, a lifelong DC Comics disciple, now rotating to the Marvel universe. Subtle behaviors, bits of history, and plans for the future — everything in Noah’s world has been rewritten. Described as a stunning surrealist portrait, the story is about all the ways we hurt our friends without knowing it, and all the ways they stick around to save us.
Ellen Goldsmith-Vein and Eric Robinson will produce the project for The Gotham Group. In February of this year, Paramount Players acquired rights to the novel which was originally published by Viking Books on May 22, 2018.
