The Purge Season 1 Episode 10

Joe decided to handcuff all of the girls within his cage as it was nearing the end of Purge Night. He then called both Rick and Jenna forward to go through his sham trial set-up. Rick had hired Joe to install the security system in his apartment complex and had supposedly underpaid Joe for his work. The system that Joe had installed failed inspection and Rick, understandably, terminated his company’s contract with Joe. Penelope found a screw that was somewhat loose and worked it free to use as a weapon against Joe. Rick confessed to exploiting a loophole that been worked into the contract that Joe signed.

After he drew his gun, Joe gave Jenna an ultimatum. Jenna had to kill Rick and she would be allowed to live. Otherwise, both Rick and Jenna would be killed by Joe. Jenna took the gun and pulled the trigger, but Pete had given her an unloaded weapon. Back in the cage, Penelope and the other remaining prisoner had worked out a plan, Penelope had taken her hostage and was threatening to kill the prisoner. While Joe was distracted by the bomb, Penelope stabbed him with the screw and everyone ran out of the makeshift courtroom. While escaping Rick was killed and Penelope set off a bomb, but she was uninjured. Joe recaptured Penelope and he put her on trial, mostly for being a person of color. Penelope attempted to rationally explain to Joe the problems of the Purge and she took long enough for Miguel to barge in and launch an assault on Joe. The sirens sounded and the Purge ended until next year.
