J.K. Rowling’s police drama Strike heads back to BBC One

Deadline reports that Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling’s detective series Strike is headed back to BBC One with a four-episode run entitled Lethal White. The series is based on Rowling’s latest book in the series, which she writes under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith. Series stars Tom Burke and Holliday Grainger will both be reprising their roles.

We are delighted to announce that the Strike series will return to BBC One with Lethal White. J. K. Rowling, once more in the guise of Robert Galbraith, has delivered another brilliant, knotty and original crime story. We are honoured to be working with Jo and once more with Holliday and Tom as Robin and Strike, to bring this hit series back to BBC One,” said Piers Wenger, Controller of BBC Drama.

The new four-episode run follows Billy, a troubled young man who asks for help investigating a crime he thinks he witnessed as a child. Despite his patchy memory and obvious mental anguish, they decide there’s something sincere about his story. This sets off a twisting trail through the streets of London, a disturbing inner sanctum within British Parliament, all the way to a beautiful, sinister manor deep in the English countryside.

Brontë Film and TV will produce alongside Rowling, Neil Blair, and Ruth Kenley-Letts. BBC’s Elizabeth Kilgarriff will serve as executive producer, while Tom Edge returns to adapt.
