Deadline reports that Universal Cable Productions is currently in the process of developing a TV series adaptation titled Ice Cream Man, which is based on Image Comics’ horror-fantasy comic book series of the same name.

Ice Cream Man is an anthology series that will follow different dark tales which will be narrated by the Ice Cream Man. He will peel back the layers of the suburban American psyche with stories that always end with a macabre twist. The titular narrator will tell the stories for the viewers in an in-depth darkly wry observation regarding the human nature and the cruel ironies of fate.

The comic book series was created by W. Maxwell Prince which was first published earlier this year. The series will be penned by Max and Adam Reid, who will also serve as executive producers. Jake Weiner and Jake Wagner of Good Fear Films along with Chris Bender are also set to executive produce.

Universal Cable Productions already has experience on producing and adapting comic books such as Syfy’s comedy crime series Happy! which was also from Image Comics, and Netflix‘s upcoming superhero series The Umbrella Academy starring Ellen Page, Tom Hopper, and Mary J. Blige. The series is scheduled to debut in 2019.
