Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 has been released over the weekend, and we have been playing it nonstop. Yes, the game’s battle royale mode, Blackout, is the main reason why many of us are excited about the game. And we’re pretty sure that’s the reason for it breaking its previous records. Activision announced that Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 has broken the launch day record with the biggest day one digital release in its history. (Call of Duty: WWII was the previous record holder.)
In addition, it broke the PlayStation record for day one digital full game sales on PlayStation store worldwide. It also did the same worldwide with Xbox One digital game day one sales. The PC version doubled in sales year on year, and it also marked the first time a Call of Duty game was available on Blizzard’s Battle.net.
There were fans who were disappointed about the removal of the single-player campaign, but the sales numbers have spoken. However, there are single-player missions that give you more insight into the Black Ops characters complete with pre-rendered cutscenes.
Zombies has been a popular PvE mode for the Black Ops franchise, and it’s back with a variety of maps including one set in the Titanic and one set in Ancient Rome.
Of course, the classic PvP multiplayer mode returns back with Team Deathmatch, Heist, Control, Fre for All, Search and Destroy, Domination, Hardpoint and Kill Confirmed.
Call of Duty: Black Ops is developed by Treyarch (Spider-Man 2) with help from Raven Software and Beenox (PC version).
