Insatiable Season 1 Episode 7 Recap
In the previous episode of Netflix’s Insatiable, someone had filmed Patty and Christian’s third base antics at the playground. But the Miss Magic Jesus pageant was just around the corner.
Oh, God
Barnard had Patty’s sex tape. Of course, it was Dixie who shot it. But his attempt to blackmail Armstrong didn’t work. Pastor Mike was impressed with Patty’s confession since it proved to him her commitment to spiritual improvement. Patty was still in the running for Miss Magic Jesus.
Cramming for Christ
Stella Rose was the new judge for Miss Magic Jesus. To stack the deck against Patty, she introduced a Bible Trivia Quiz portion of the competition. Patty was in search of a study partner. Nonnie was busy on her date with Dee. Christian was mostly a distraction. He did try to steal the quiz from his father’s computer but got caught. And Armstrong was too preoccupied.
But it was Angie who stepped up to help Patty, even though she knew as much as Patty did. It was nice to see her be there for her daughter.
“Get Your Head in the Game”
All was not well with Magnolia. With Dixie’s help, she spiraled into drunkenness over losing two boyfriends to Patty. But her father made a deal with Stella Rose to get the questions for the Bible Trivia Quiz, and a snort of white powder put Magnolia’s head back in the game.
“Sweet, Sweet Jesus Inside Me”
Miss Magic Jesus began with a very uncomfortable song (see section title). Patty’s performance in the quiz was all right, but Magnolia’s advantage put her on top. Patty had to ace the interview question, “How is Jesus inside you?” She gave an honest answer about her abandonment issues and won over the crowd. But it was Magnolia who ultimately took the crown, with Patty getting first runner-up.
DNA Results
Armstrong discovered that Stella Rose is Roxy’s mother. Some quick math led him to believe that he could be her father. While trying to interrogate Roxy at the gym, Armstrong stole some of her hair to send off for a DNA test. The results came in, and her father was Barnard. Stella Rose had slept with him for revenge after Armstrong ended the affair. Barnard sold Magnolia out to Armstrong, and since Patty was first runner-up, she would have the Miss Magic Jesus crown.
Magnolia witnessed the exchange between Barnard and Armstrong. Soon after, Dixie found Magnolia unconscious next to an empty liquor bottle and drugs. Barnard tried to wake her up, but her fate was still unknown.
Geysers Full of Hormones
Patty took the loss hard, but Christian sought her out. Pastor Mike was fed up with his antics and had agreed to send Christian to military school. He was going to run away to Hollywood, and he wanted Patty to come with him. She left letters to Angie and Armstrong, and the episode ended with Christian and Patty driving across state lines.
