RIP Margot Kidder, Actress Dead at 69

RIP Margot Kidder, actress dead at 69

TMZ reports that actress Margot Kidder died Sunday at her home in Livingston, Montana. She was 69.

Born October 17, 1948, the Canadian-born actress was best known for playing intrepid reporter Lois Lane opposite Christopher Reeve in the original 1978 Superman feature film from Richard Donner. Kidder reprised her role in the three Superman sequels that followed.

Kidder also made a name for herself by starring in cult-classic horror and thriller films, including as Siamese twins Danielle and Dominique Blanchion in Brian De Palma’s Sisters, plus the slasher film Black Christmas in 1974, and starring in the original The Amityville Horror opposite James Brolin. She recently appeared in feature films The Red Maple Leaf and The Neighborhood.

The actress also had an extensive career in television in addition to her movie appearances, including episodes of Murder, She WroteTouched by an AngelThe Outer LimitsLaw & Order: Special Victims Unit, and even appearing in the Superman-based Smallville. Some readers may also remember her from voicing Gaia in the ’90s animated series, Captain Planet and the Planeteers. Kidder won an Emmy award for her appearance in an episode of R.L. Stine’s The Haunting Hour.

She is survived by her daughter, Maggie McGuane, and two grandchildren.
