Third Editions: Comprehensive books to games like Metal Gear Solid, Zelda, Final Fantasy

Third Editions

Playing video games is a hobby that requires a lot of your time, and one game can last for hours or even days. Now add a bunch of sequels, and that’s your whole day or week gone. Of course, you can replay your favorite games, but perhaps you want to save some time. Maybe you just want a refresher on the games and want to learn more about the game’s history and its creators. Well, Third Editions is here to help you out, and it has been raising successful Kickstarter campaigns for video game books like Dark Souls, Zelda: The History of a Legendary Saga Volume 1, The Legend of Final Fantasy VII, BioShock: From Rapture to Columbia, and Metal Gear Solid: Hideo Kojima’s Magnum Opus.

As a fan of Metal Gear Solid, I couldn’t pass up the chance to read Metal Gear Solid: Hideo Kojima’s Magnum Opus. This is definitely a comprehensive book, and it covers everything including the beginning of Konami, Hideo Kojima’s history, the development of Metal Gear as a franchise, recaps of the Metal Gear stories and each of the game’s gameplay mechanics.

The Metal Gear Solid games can be exhausting with its complex characters and plot twists. There are many layers to each game, and just when you get an understanding of what’s happening, series creator Kojima throws another curve ball. For example, fans didn’t know that they were going to play as Raiden for most of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty. And just when fans thought they were going to play as Snake in Metal Gear Solid 3, it turns out that the game is set in the past and stars Big Boss, the father of Solid Snake.

I can appreciate the retelling of the different stories, and there are some that I missed due to me not having a particular device. So having the book is a great way to bridge the gap between the different games, especially when characters like to double-cross… and then triple-cross.

And this is just a sample of the many books being offered by Third Editions.

Check out the trailer for Third Editions season 2 books below.

The books include Zelda: The History of a Legendary Saga (Volume 2: Breath of the Wild), Dark Souls: Beyond The Grave (Volume 2: Bloodborne and Dark Souls III) and The Legend of Final Fantasy VIII. The original goal was reached along with the stretch goal, which included one dedicated to Taro Yoko (Nier: Automata, Drakengard).
