A Quiet Place’s John Krasinski to direct sci-fi thriller Life on Mars
John Krasinski’s latest directorial effort A Quiet Place is a bonafide sensation, taking in over $85 million worldwide since opening a week ago. Now The Hollywood Reporter says Krasinski has signed once again with Paramount Pictures to direct a sci-fi thriller titled Life on Mars, which he will not star in.
Life on Mars will be an adaptation of a short story by Cecil Castellucci titled We Have Always Lived on Mars, which follows a group of people living in a colony on Mars long after a cataclysm on Earth. When one of the women finds that she can breathe the Martian air, it upends the life of everyone in the colony. The new project will re-team Krasinski with his A Quiet Place producers at Platinum Dunes, namely Michael Bay, Andrew Form and Brad Fuller.
Paramount’s A Quiet Place is directed by John Krasinski and he stars opposite his real-life wife Emily Blunt. Noah Jupe (Suburbicon, Wonder) and Millicent Simmonds (Wonderstruck) round out the cast.
In the modern horror thriller, a family of four must navigate their lives in silence after mysterious creatures that hunt by sound threaten their survival. If they hear you, they hunt you. The film has minimal dialogue, because silence is survival.
A Quiet Place is produced by Michael Bay (Transformers) and his Platinum Dunes partners Andrew Form and Brad Fuller (Ouija, The Purge, Texas Chainsaw Massacre), from a spec script by Bryan Woods & Scott Beck which was rewritten by Krasinski.
