Seth Rogen working on US remake of British comedy Plebs

Seth Rogen (The Disaster ArtistSausage Party) will be remaking the British comedy series Plebs for American audiences. Rogen got the rights for broadcasting the show on U.S. TV from Rise Films, the British production company behind the hit comedy.

Point Grey Pictures is in charge of producing the U.S. remake with Rise Films credited as co-producer. Development is still early with no network or streaming platform announced just yet. As Rogen’s production company, Point Grey Pictures is responsible for notable films such as This Is the EndThe Interview and The Disaster Artist, as well as the comic-based TV show Preacher for AMC.

Plebs tells the hijinks that Marcus, Stylax and their slave Grumio get up to in their wacky, mundane lives as young, hot-blooded men living in the cosmopolitan metropolis of ancient Rome.

Tom Rosenthal and Ryan Sampson are the leads of the original British version. Sam Leifer and Tom Basden created the show for British TV under Rise Films, airing on ITV2. A fourth season of the show is already in the works, listing Robert Lindsay, Tom Davis and Maureen Lipman as the guest stars.

Fan of the original British show? Excited to hear Rogen adapt it and inject his signature style of humor into the series? Let us know in the comments.
