Vampyr: Killing NPCs will impact the gameplay and story

Vampyr Dontnot

Dontnod and Focus Home Interactive have just released a new episode from the Vampyr behind-the-scenes web series titled “Human After All.” Here you will learn about how important the NPCs are in the game’s 1918 London setting, and how killing them will have an effect on the world around you.

Dontnot’s intent is to make your actions of killing uneasy. To do this, the NPCs won’t be your typical generic background characters, and each person will have their own story. On the plus side, your character, Jonathan Reid, will earn XP if he kills and feeds on the district’s citizens. This, in turn, will help him grow stronger and gain new powers. You can also gain XP via quests or defeating enemies in battle. However, it won’t be as much as feeding on the people.

If a citizen is sacrificed, you’ll learn of their final thoughts before death. Yes, Dontnot wants to give you a guilt trip by making you feel sorry for them. Learn about who they are as a person including who they loved and their history. If there is a lot of murder, the district’s population will decrease, giving rise to the Skals and more.

Vampyr will be available in Spring 2018 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
