Saban Films Acquires Brad Silberling’s War Thriller An Ordinary Man
Brad Silberling’s An Ordinary Man has found a North American distributor in Saban Films. The film is also written by Silberling and follows a war criminal in hiding who forms a relationship with his only connection to the outside world – his maid. It stars Sir Ben Kingsley alongside his Ottoman Lieutenant co-star Hera Hilmar. Producers include Kingsley, Silberling and Rick Dugdale for Enderby Entertainment. Daniel Petrie Jr. executive produced the film. Ness Saban and Bill Bromiley negotiated the deal on behalf of Saban Films.
Saban Films’ President Bill Bromiley sung the praises of lead Kingsley, stating that he is “the epitome of class, boldness, and exalting talent.” He went on to reveal they were “truly captivated” by his work and performance in the film. They are planning a second quarter theatrical release.
Saban Films also recently acquired the distribution rights for Craig William Macneill’s Lizzie, starring Academy Award nominee Chloë Sevigny and Kristen Stewart. The racy period drama just made its World Premiere In-Competition at the Sundance Film Festival. The Los Angeles-based film acquisition and distribution company was also responsible for distribution on a number of films this past year, including Killing Gunther starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Shot Caller starring Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Lake Bell, and the Ethan Hawke action thriller 24 Hours to Live.
Brad Silberling is best known for his directorial works starring eccentric talents, including Nicolas Cage in City Of Angels, Jim Carrey in Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events, and Will Ferrell in Land of the Lost.
