Star Wars: The Last Jedi jumps to $104.8 million on Friday!
Walt Disney Pictures and Lucasfilm‘s Star Wars: The Last Jedi jumped to an estimated $104.8 million domestically its first day on Friday from 4,232 theaters! It is only the second movie to surpass the $100 million mark in a single day, and it trails just Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which debuted with $119 million on its way to a launch of $247.9 million in December of 2015. The Last Jedi is expected to easily clear the $200 million mark its first weekend.
Like Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Rogue One, Star Wars: The Last Jedi received an A CinemaScore from audiences, which should mean a healthy road ahead for the film’s box office.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is written and directed by Rian Johnson (Brick, Looper) and continues the storylines introduced in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, welcoming back cast members Mark Hamill, the late Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Lupita Nyong’o, Oscar Isaac, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie, and Andy Serkis. New cast members will include Academy Award winner Benicio Del Toro, Academy Award nominee Laura Dern, and newcomer Kelly Marie Tran.
The sequel is produced by Kathleen Kennedy and Ram Bergman and executive produced by J.J. Abrams, Jason McGatlin, and Tom Karnowski.
