Marvel has revealed they are working on a new full-length featured animated film about a new generation of heroes.
Marvel Rising: Secret Warriors will premiere in 2018 and feature heroes the internet is most excited about – Ms. Marvel aka Kamala Khan (Kathleen Khavari) – Marvel’s first Muslim-American superhero; Miss America aka America Chavez (Cierra Ramirez), Marvel’s first Latino-American LGBT hero ; Squirrel Girl (Milana Vayntrub, who will also play her in the live-action version, Marvel’s New Warriors); Quake (Chloe Bennet, who also plays the live version on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.); Gwen Stacey aka Ghost-Spider/Spider-Gwen (Dove Cameron), who is also set to appear on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.; Inferno (Tyler Posey); Patriot (Kamil McFadden); an Inhuman named Exile (Booboo Stewart); Captain Marvel (Kim Raver); and, Tippy Toe and Lockjaw (both voiced by Dee Bradley Baker). The villain in the series will be Hala, voiced by Ming-Na Wen. There will be six four-minute shorts, which will feature Ghost-Spider, leading up to the film.
In a Marvel video released this morning, executive producer Cort Lane said, “There are superhero stories, then there are Marvel superhero stories, which are very much about characters. This happens in the real world. These are characters I can connect with.”
Sana Amanat, director of content & character development, said in the video, “So this is the next phase of that. We wanted to show the world that these heroes are important in the Marvel Universe. That there is a character for every kind of Marvel fan out there.”
Marvel Rising: Secret Warriors is set to air in 2018.
