The results are in! After announcing their nominations a few weeks ago, The Los Angeles Online Film Critics Society has announced the winners of its inaugural awards. Overall, Guillermo del Toro’s The Shape of Water took home the most awards with the film scoring four awards including Best Picture. In addition, three films were tied for the second most wins. First, Get Out gets out with three awards including Best Sci-Fi/Horror, Best First Feature, and Best Original Screenplay. Next, A24’s Lady Bird also took home three awards including Best Female Director and Best Independent Movie. Finally, Edgar Wright’s Baby Driver took home three including Best Action/War.
Likewise, Gary Oldman, Sally Hawkins, Allison Janney, Patrick Stewart, and Michael Stuhlbarg all took home acting awards. Both Stewart and Stuhlbarg tied for the Best Supporting Actor and will both receive the award. Additionally, the critics guild is honoring Hugh Jackman for his incredible work this year with Logan and The Greatest Showman by awarding him with the LAOFCS Achievement award. Jessica Chastain is also being honored as well for her work this year with The Zookeeper’s Wife and Molly’s Game and her humanitarian efforts. The critics guild will be awarding her with the Trailblazer award.
