Lauren Cohan joins new Peter Berg action film Mile 22
The Hollywood Reporter brings word that The Walking Dead star Lauren Cohan has joined the upcoming action film Mile 22. She joins Mark Walhberg, John Malkovich, MMA star Ronda Rousey and Asian action star Iko Uwais (The Raid) in the film, which is directed by Peter Berg.
Mile 22 marks the fourth collaboration between Berg and Wahlberg in recent years starting with 2013’s Lone Survivor and carrying on to Deepwater Horizon and Patriot’s Day.
Graham Roland (Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, Fringe, Lost) and Lea Carpenter penned the script, which THR reports will “tell the story of an elite American intelligence officer who, when aided by a top-secret tactical command unit, tries to smuggle a mysterious police officer with sensitive information out of the country.”
STX Entertainment is reportedly hoping to turn the film into a franchise and are simultaneously developing a TV series and VR game to correspond with it. Earlier this year, Wahlberg revealed that he hopes for the film to spawn a trilogy and described it as “an intelligent, adult action film.”
Cohan can be seen now in the new season of The Walking Dead as Maggie, a role she has held since 2011.
