The Queen Mary’s Dark Harbor now running through November 1

The Queen Mary’s Dark Harbor is now open and it will be running on select nights through November 1st. It’s one of the biggest Halloween events in the Southern California area, and this year it’s bringing back familiar and new mazes.

One of the coolest attractions I was able to check out this year was the Panic 4-D inside the Queen Mary auditorium. It’s an 8-minute video where you follow a woman trying to escape a creepy house in the first-person. The 4D experience allows you to smell and feel what’s on the screen, including getting sprayed by water on the face. The visuals feel like they are coming at you thanks to the 3D glasses. You will need to buy a ticket for this, which you can get for $5 at the ticket booths.

Of course, the haunted mazes are the main attractions, and what sets Dark Harbor apart from the others are the secret bars located inside them. It’s a nice diversion as you scramble through the maze, only to find a secluded bar for a break from all the scares. I tried out the cupcake cocktail, and it was a sweet drink with sprinkles on top. Note, not everyone will be able to discover the secret bar, and according to the employee I talked to, they choose who enters based on availability.

The new maze being introduced is Feast, and as you can tell, it’s a culinary nightmare. This one does have a secret ice bar, so be sure to check it out before heading back out and meeting Chef. Other mazes return including Lullaby where Scary Mary torments guests, B340 where Samuel the Savage terrifies, Soulmate where Graceful Gale is looking for her soulmate, Deadrise where Half Hatch Henry is looking for vengeance inside his warship, Circus where the Ringmaster messes with you, and Intrepid where the Iron Master reigns supreme on the Mary King’s Cross.

There are plenty of performances throughout including hula dancers, DJs, and fire-breathers.
