The Lust Experience immersive experience is coming to Los Angeles this December

The Lust Experience

Last year, movie director Darren Bousman (Saw II, III, IV, Abattoir, Repo! The Genetic Opera) unleashed upon Los Angeles his immersive theater, The Tension Experience. It gave fans an intimate look into the mind of the horror maestro, and it was well received and praised by fans and participants. (Check out our review here.) Darren’s creation left fans asking for more, and soon he’ll open up the doors to the second chapter to his world with The Lust Experience: Anointment.

Based on what I’ve read, Lust continues right after the Tension Experience. The main antagonist behind Tension is ODSM, and it is not really what it’s turned out to be. In fact, it’s a more sinister and devious organization that created Tension to gather information on its participants and they’re emotional responses. Lust is a response to the outcome of Tension.

Tension Experience

I was fortunate enough to be a participant in last year’s Tension Experience, and let me tell you, it did not disappoint. In fact, it went farther than what I had expected. If Tension is any indication of what Lust will be like, then participants will be in for a real treat. What it did was take its participants to the farthest edge of their comfort zone, then it unexpectedly pushed you over that edge. For nearly three hours, guests were tried and tested and taken to limits they’ve never thought they had. As you go through the immersive theater, you begin to ask yourself just how far can you go. Can you make it to the very end and see how this plays out, or will you call it quits and go running home to your mama? The real highlight of Tension was that each participant never experienced the same thing. It is massive with twenty-four different rooms that guests can be taken to. So each guest can tell their own unique and different story of what they experienced. Hopefully Lust will continue that trend.

If The Tension Experience took us down the rabbit hole of our own self-awareness, then where will Lust be taking us? What does it intend to explore? Based on the forums and message boards on the Lust website, it seems that it wants to know what its guests truly desire. What do they “Lust” for? Is it money, power or sex? Regardless of what you desire, the real question is, “How far are you willing to go to obtain it?” And once you gain what you desire, what kind of person will you become?

Lust will be opening its doors soon, and if you’re one of the lucky people to snag a ticket. My word of advice is, “Open yourself up completely.” The reason why Darren’s immersive theater is successful is that participants open themselves up to the experience. You don’t know what you’re going to get, so it’s best that you’re willing to accept anything. You can’t be shy or timid when it comes to the Lust experience. If you are, you won’t get the full experience. So be willing to truly participate. Write your own story and tell your tale, because once you finish, I will guarantee you’ll leave with an experience unlike anything you’ve ever seen.
