The following info comes from sources along the upstream supply chain for Switch.
- Nintendo has recently raised its orders for the Switch to two million units a month
- this is due to the product's surging demand
- Nintendo is expected to be able to achieve an annual shipment target of 20 million units for 2017
- Switch shortages thus far are mainly due to tight supplies of key components including DRAM
- ODMs such as Pegatron Technology and Wistron are trying to win orders for Switch production requests
- Pegatron has stationed a team near Nintendo's headquarters, looking to further persuade the company
2 million units a month. Remember when Nintendo was able to ship a bit over 2 million for launch? To think that they're upping production now to keep up with demand yet again is pretty damn insane!
