Kamehameha!!! During today’s Steelers game against Baltimore Ravens, rookie Wide Receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster made his second career touchdown only after just having his first during the Minnesota Vikings game last week. Following JuJu’s touchdown during today’s game, the 20-year-old from USC did a celebration that resembled Dragon Ball Z character Goku’s Kamehameha.
The image and video quickly went viral on social media and it wasn’t long before someone added the sounds and special effects to the clip.

Now, we’ve seen a lot of anime references and celebrations in the WWE and even MMA, but I believe this may be the first time we’ve had one in the NFL. Only recently have players like the Jaguars’ Brennan Williams and Green Bay Packers’ Mike Daniels come out publicly about their love for anime. In fact, Daniels went to San Diego Comic-Con this year dressed up as Raikage from Naruto. This only cements that anime is becoming more and more mainstream.
On a funny side note, my little brother James actually played with JuJu when he used to play for the South Bay Spartans rugby team. My dad actually told me a really cool story where one of the players actually punched my brother in the face instead of stiff arming him. Rugby being rugby, my brother toughed it out but the very next play, JuJu cut clear across the field and laid the other guy out.
I’m glad to see that JuJu Smith-Schuster is doing so well in his rookie year.
Steelers defeated the Ravens 26 to 9.
