Warner Bros. Pictures‘ Blade Runner 2049 opened in first place domestically with $31.5 million from 4,058 theaters, an average of $7,769 per location. The debut was on the low end of the studio’s expectations, considering it cost a hefty $150 million to make, but the film did receive an A- CinemaScore, which could mean a healthy run ahead. Alcon Entertainment and Sony Pictures co-financed the film, which grossed an estimated $50 million overseas for a global weekend of $81.5 million. Directed by Denis Villeneuve, the film stars Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford, Ana de Armas, Sylvia Hoeks, Robin Wright, Mackenzie Davis, Carla Juri, Lennie James, Dave Bautista, and Jared Leto.

Debuting in second place in North America was The Mountain Between Us, starring Kate Winslet and Idris Elba. The 20th Century Fox release grossed $10.1 million from 3,088 theaters, an average of $3,271. The film also collected $3.6 million from 11 international markets. Directed by Hany Abu-Assad, The Mountain Between Us cost just $35 million to make and it also received an A- CinemaScore.

Coming in at No. 3 was New Line Cinema’s IT, which added $9.7 million domestically for a total of $304.9 million after five weeks. Internationally, IT has become the highest-grossing horror film off all time with another $19.8 million and a total of $298.8 million, bringing the worldwide total to an impressive $603.7 million. Directed by Andrés Muschietti, IT cost just $35 million to make and stars Bill Skarsgård as the story’s central villain, Pennywise the clown, as well as Jaeden Lieberher, Jeremy Ray Taylor, Sophia Lillis, Finn Wolfhard, Wyatt Oleff, Chosen Jacobs, Jack Dylan Grazer and Nicholas Hamilton. The sequel has been set for a September 6, 2019 release.

Lionsgate’s My Little Pony: The Movie debuted in fourth place with $8.8 million from 2,528 theaters, an average of $3,481. Internationally, the film collected $3.8 million from 49 markets this weekend. Receiving an A- CinemaScore as well, My Little Pony: The Movie is voiced by Kristin Chenoweth, Emily Blunt, Zoe Saldana, Taye Diggs, Liev Schreiber, Sia Furler, Uzo Aduba, Michael Pena, Andrea Libman, Tara Strong, Ashleigh Ball, Tabitha St. Germain, and Cathy Weseluck.

Kingsman: The Golden Circle (20th Century Fox) rounded out the top five with $8.1 million its third weekend, for a total of $79.9 million. Internationally, The Golden Circle earned $25.5 million from 69 markets and has earned $173.6 million, for a global total of $253.5 million. Made for about $104 million, the Matthew Vaughn-directed sequel stars Colin Firth, Julianne Moore, Taron Egerton, Mark Strong, Halle Berry, Sir Elton John, Channing Tatum, and Jeff Bridges.

Universal’s American Made earned $8 million its second weekend for a total of $30.4 million domestically. Directed by Doug Liman and starring Tom Cruise, the film started opening internationally in late August and has collected $68.1 million so far, for a worldwide total of $98.5 million. American Made cost $50 million to make.

And coming in at the seventh spot was Warner Bros. Pictures’ The LEGO Ninjago Movie, which added $6.8 million and has grossed $43.8 million after three weeks domestically. The movie grossed $6.9 million internationally this weekend, for an overseas total of $33.6 million. The worldwide total is at $77.4 million. The LEGO Ninjago Movie features the voices of Dave Franco, Justin Theroux, Fred Armisen, Abbi Jacobson, Olivia Munn, Kumail Nanjiani, Michael Pena, Zach Woods, and Jackie Chan.
