Philip K. Dick’s writings have been adapted for the big screen like Blade Runner, Minority Report and Total Recall. Now audiences can check out the sequel to Blade Runner, Blade Runner 2049, in theaters starting this weekend. It’s great timing, too, since Amazon Video has released the trailer for Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams, an anthology series set in its own unique world, during New York Comic Con.
Synopsis: Based on various writings from author Philip K. Dick, Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams will consist of ten standalone episodes, each set in a different and unique world–some which lay in the far reaches of the universe and time, and others which are much, much closer to home. While the stories may be worlds apart, central to each is the poignant and warm exploration of the importance and significance of humanity. From five to 5000 years in the future, each compelling tale will both illustrate Philip K. Dick’s prophetic vision and celebrate the enduring appeal of the prized sci-fi novelist’s work.
Electric Dreams features an all-star cast including Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad, Power Rangers), Steve Buscemi (Armageddon, Boardwalk Empire), Greg Kinnear (As Good As It Gets), Maura Tierney (The Affair), Janelle Monae (Moonlight), Mireille Enos (The Catch), Anna Paquin (X-Men, True Blood), Terrence Howard (Empire), Timothy Spall (Mr. Turner), Liam Cunningham (Game of Thrones), Richard Madden (Game of Thrones), Holiday Grainger (The Finest Hours), Mel Rodriguez (Last Man on Earth), Vera Farmiga (Bates Motel), Jack Reynor (Macbeth), Essie Davis (The Babadook), Benedict Wong (Doctor Strange), and Geraldine Chaplin (A Monster Calls).
Each episode is inspired by Dick’s short stories with adaptations by writers and directors including Ronald D. Moore (Battlestar Galactica, Outlander), Michael Dinner (Justified, Sneaky Pete), Tony Grisoni (Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas), Jack Thorne (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child), Matthew Graham (Doctor Who), David Farr (The Night Manager), Dee Rees (Bessie) and Travis Beacham (Pacific Rim).
The series will premiere in 2018.
