Help former GN staffer Poopaloop raise money for the charity Special Effect, get custom Pokemon fan-art!

Hey everyone! Many of you here may already know me as Poopaloop, the guy who used to draw the weekly podcast images here on GoNintendo.

Those who follow me on Twitter will know I've developed a bit of an obsession with the original Pokémon concept art by Ken Sugimori, and have decided it's my mission in life to learn how to replicate that style. I’ve been posting attempts over the past week or so and a few people have asked me if I’m taking commissions, if I do requests etc. That’s where you come in!

If you’re anything like me, video games have permeated and enhanced every aspect of your life. I couldn’t imagine not being able to play them, and that’s why a charity very close to my heart is Special Effect. They’re a UK-based charity who help people with physical disabilities enjoy video games. I’ve met with them a few times at events and some of the ingenuity they use to open up this great hobby of ours to everyone is amazing. From chin joysticks to eye-controlled inputs, they somehow make the impossible possible. There’s no way I could do their work the justice it deserves in this short post, so please take a look at what they’re all about at their website, http://ift.tt/YrI6nZ.

Special Effect are currently in the run-up to their annual One Special Day campaign on September 29th, where many publishers and developers donate revenue from their game sales and in-app purchases. Tim Schafer’s into it. Do you want him to think you’re not cool?

I’ll cut to the chase – this month, for a small donation to Special Effect (minimum $5 please!), I’ll gladly draw a Pokémon of your choice as I attempt to master that sweet, sweet Sugimori style. (And then maybe go back in time and design Pokémon before he does, but that’s a fundraiser for another day.)

Just make your donation to Special Effect, tweet at me @RType88 with a screenshot of donation and your Pokémon of choice, and I’ll get right on it!

Thanks so much for your time gang. It’s amazing how gamers pull together in this community to support great causes, so even if you can’t donate right now spreading the word would be more than enough. Thank you!
