Call of Duty: WWII gets emotional and intense in new story trailer

Call of Duty: WWII

Call of Duty will be going back to its World War II roots, and so far it has been pleasing a lot of fans. A new trailer has been released for Call of Duty: WWII, and it focuses on the campaign’s story.

Synopsis: Call of Duty: WWII tells the story of Private Ronald “Red” Daniels (Jonathan Tucker), a young recruit in the U.S. First Infantry Division who experiences combat for the first time on D-Day, one of the largest amphibious assaults in history. After surviving the beaches of Normandy, Red and his squad will fight their way across Europe, engaging the enemy in iconic battle locations such as the Hürtgen Forest and the Battle of the Bulge, as they make their way into Germany. The journey begins on November 3.

I am definitely feeling a Saving Private Ryan vibe from the story trailer especially since it shows a squad member wanting to save a captive friend. Oh, and if you thought one of the characters sounds and looks like Josh Duhamel (Transformers), you thought right. He’ll be playing TSgt. William Pierson, and it looks like he’ll be making it tough for Private Red due to him wanting to focus on the mission.

Another interesting thing is the Jewish scene, and I’m hoping that they tackle the subject matter with finesse. This would be a great way to show that a World War II video game can handle a really tough subject matter instead of the typical guy goes in and shoots everything in sight.

There has been some controversy about the exclusion of the swastika in multiplayer, and that’s mainly because Sledgehammer feels that it would be inappropriate to add that in without context. (I’m pretty sure many knows that swastikas are bad.)

“Including Nazi symbols wouldn’t bring honor, nor be appropriate, without the rich history of a WW2 story to ground their context in Multiplayer,” Sledgehammer co-founder Michael Condrey tells Forbes.

Well, as you can see from the trailer, the single-player campaign will include the swastika. Will that be enough to appease the critics? Let us know your thoughts about the swastika symbol and its exclusion in the multiplayer in the comments section below.

Call of Duty: WWII will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on November 3, 2017.
