- when you get close to an ally, and select Pair Up, you can form a pair with them
- you go and battle together, with one character at the front and one at the rear
- when you’re paired up with another character, the Double Attack gauge appears
- when it’s filled up, you can break the enemy’s guard
- Dual Guard Gauge also appears when you’re paired up with another character
- when it’s completely filled up, the Dual Guard allows you to nullify enemy attacks
- when the Musou gauges of both units are filled up, you can use Dual Mystery: a special combo technique
- this is a lot more powerful that regular attacks
- various Dual Mystery attacks can be pulled off, depending on the combination of character
