It’s been 16 years since the guys from Broken Lizard gave us the cult classic Super Troopers. The red-band teaser trailer only runs just over a minute, but has the same shenanigans that made the original a hit. We see the Vermont Highway Patrol squad of Mac, Thorny, Foster, Rabbit, Cap and of course Farva all back together. Even Jim Gaffigan is back as the unsuspecting motorist. As of right meow, there isn’t an official synopsis for the film, but it is rumored to be about tensions between the U.S. and Canadian border.
Jay Chandrasekhar is back to direct this sequel that was almost entirely crowdfunded for production funds. Broken Lizard had an Indiegogo campaign that helped raise almost $4.6 million to make the film. This is really good considering that the original Super Troopers had a budget of only $1.2 million. Fox Searchlight then acquired the film at the 2001 Sundance Film Festival, to which it went on to gross $23 million worldwide.
