Teen Wolf reboot in development at MTV after Season 6

With the second half of the sixth and final season of Teen Wolf set to premiere Sunday, July 30, MTV doesn’t necessarily see it as a concrete ending. According to The Hollywood Reporter, MTV is already in early talks with series creator and showrunner Jeff Davis for a Teen Wolf reboot featuring an all-new cast and setting. The original cast could still have an opportunity to return, and the current storyline will also be continued in a radio drama-style podcast.

“These characters and these stories have hit a peak,” MTV president Chris McCarthy said. “We are talking with Jeff about how do we actually keep that franchise alive. And the beauty of the evolution of media is you can see the series going on through a series of podcasts and then see a resurrection of a new class in a couple years. How do we keep this franchise alive in podcasts, in the spirit of Serial, and then how do we actually reboot an entire new class? Because the heart of MTV is around these timeless issues of young people and coming of age, but the timely piece will be the whole new cast, new set of issues and stories to explore through them. With ‘Teen Wolf,’ we have such a beautiful gem. And when you have a creator like Jeff that is such an amazing partner and the fan base that is hungry for more, we’re crazy not to. We want to give it enough time to let the series finale marinate a year or so, and then when we find the right story and the right cast, look to resurrect it.”

The series is also returning to Comic-Con International this week, with a Hall H panel set for Thursday, July 20 at 2:00pm.

The final ten episodes of Teen Wolf find Scott and his pack on the eve of their departure for college, as they discover a new enemy rising in the shadows, which threatens the fate of everything they hold dear.

At the Thursday panel, Hall H will see Tyler Posey, Dylan Sprayberry, Shelley Hennig, Cody Christian, Khylin Rhambo and executive producer Jeff Davis take the stage, with a few surprises in tow and fans can expect an exclusive, extended sneak peek of the highly-anticipated Teen Wolf final season. The pack will offer Comic-Con fans an extended first-look at the final season and reveal a handful of teases.

Then, on Friday, the cast will hit the convention center floor for a signing with fans (Fox Booth #4229), offering exclusive, limited edition Teen Wolf posters. MTV will also be on-the-ground with the “MTV Fandom Fest” interactive experience on Friday, July 21st at Petco Park hosted by Tyler Posey. For the fourth year, the “MTV Fandom Fest” will celebrate the fans who have descended upon San Diego Comic-Con. “Fandom Fest” will feature thousands of guests at Petco Park as MTV offers numerous events including fan-facing activations, live music, giveaways, and more.
