Get ready for some hectic cooking action because Overcooked: Special Edition is coming to the Nintendo Switch on Thursday, July 27 for $19.99. The special edition comes with the base game along with The Lost Morsel and Festive Seasoning add-on content.
Overcooked is a local multiplayer co-op game where 2 or 4 players take control of miniature chefs. And its original release date was in August 2016 for other platforms. The chefs come in many forms such as a snowman or French bulldog, and they must cook a series of meals after collecting their respective ingredients. The clock is ticking, and the faster you prepare the meals, the more gold coins you earn. You’ll need them to complete the level and get a better ranking based on a three-star system. However, there is no online play since the couch co-op is part of the game’s novelty.
What makes Overcooked crazy is that nothing is conveniently placed in the kitchens. You have to hastily run around getting everything in order. Did I also mention that these kitchens aren’t always in a restaurant? Sometimes they’re in trucks, on a frozen ice cap, and even on top of a building being attacked by a kaiju that demands to be fed. Just a normal day in the life of a French bulldog chef.
If you’re not the multiplayer type, the game also has a single-player mode where you control two different chefs in 44 levels. In addition, 2 to 4 friends can play this campaign.
Overcooked: Special Edition could make for a great entry on the Nintendo Switch’s indie library. Not to mention, it has a quirky presentation and emphasis on couch co-op. (The guys at Nintendo are huge fans of this.) Furthermore, the Switch’s portability function will also make it easier to bring to a friend’s house to play on the tablet.
