- due to those characters having varied heights, they didn't work out
- the dev team switched to Wii Fit Trainer, since she is taller, had well-trained muscles & it was easier to define parts of her body
- Barq was originally designed as a support item for beginners
- his character started to become more unique while the team was refining details
- Nintendo ultimately felt it would be more interesting to pair him up with a regular fighter
