When you think of gaming headsets, LucidSound may not be the first name that comes to mind. There’s a possibility that you may not even have heard of them before. They’ve only been around for just under 2 years, but in that time, they have become a brand that you can trust for quality and affordability. Xbox owners should be excited, as LucidSound have announced a brand new headset specifically for the Xbox One and One X.
It’s called the LS35X, and it’s the very first headset to use the direct connect technology found on all current-gen Xbox consoles. You’re probably wondering what exactly this means, as it seems similar to just a wireless headset. Technically that is correct, except this uses the same exact wireless tech that is found in the Xbox One controllers. This means that there is seamless setup and no wires when connecting to your console.
There’s no cables, base station, chat cable, or any of that, you pair to the Xbox the same way you would with an Xbox controller. As it connects, everything auto-configures so you don’t have to spend extra time setting everything up. The LS35X isn’t limited to just the Xbox, as it will work on any of the newer PC that has the same direct connect built-in.
Aside from the direct connect, there are a bunch of other cool features on this headset. First off, it comes with 50mm neodymium drivers, which most headsets come with 40mm. This translates to more sound surrounding your ear due to the bigger driver. The LS35X also boasts 3D sound via Windows Sonic and is compatible with Dolby Atmos, both on both the Xbox One and Windows 10. Not only that, but it has head-tracking capabilities as well. All of the controls are on both of the ear cups, so you don’t have to spend time fiddling with a dongle.
By now you’re probably thinking that despite all of the features, the LS35X will be on higher-end of the pricing spectrum. That’s actually not true, as the headset will be available for $179.99. It’s still more than the average headset, but still less than many of the big name brands. Unfortunately, it isn’t out yet as it will be available on December 1st, to coincide with the Xbox One X release. For now though, you can preorder it on Amazon.
