I don’t know if there’s a more anticipated film coming out of 20th Century Fox than the upcoming 2018 sequel of last year’s smash hit, Deadpool. No one could have ever predicted just how successful -and impactful- the film was going to be, and the lasting impressions the film had on people and the industry are still seen today.
Now, we’ve just learned that the cast has grown with the addition of Japanese actress Shioli Kutsuna, known for her roles in Asian television and the upcoming film The Outsider, starring actor Jared Leto. It is unknown as to the details of her character, but reportedly she is supposed to be playing a “key role” in the sequel.
The actress joins several new additions to the cast of the second Deadpool installment, with Josh Brolin as Cable, Zazie Beetz as Domino and Jack Kesy. It has yet to be confirmed who Kesy will be playing, but he is reportedly set to play the Marvel villain Black Tom.
There are so many different possibilities of who Kutsuna will be playing, but I have my money set on possibly Siryn also known as Theresa Rourke. If you’re unfamiliar with X-Men lore, Siryn is the daughter of former X-Men member Sean Cassidy, known as Banshee, and Maeve Rourke. The reasoning behind this? If sources are correct, and Kesy ends up portraying Black Tom, then it would only make sense to have someone play his unique cousin, Siryn. The pieces fit a bit too well, but with the information given, that’s what I believe they’ll end up doing.
Rumors aside, however, the film seems to be building to something really big, as characters such as Cable and Domino bring a new side to the Marvel spectrum that hasn’t been seen yet.
