Blast off on the world’s first official ‘Star Trek’ ride!

Are you ready “to boldly go where no man has gone before?”

With school being out around the country, and many people ready to start Summer vacation, who doesn’t have theme parks on their mind?

Now available at Movie Park Germany, you too can experience the thrills and chills of what it takes to be a part of Starfleet, and join the ranks aboard the USS Enterprise! The Star Trek: Operation Enterprise ride has been in the works for over two years, and finally opened its doors to the public June 7.

“We’re incredibly proud of our new themed attraction,” Thorsten Backhaus, General Manager of Movie Park Germany, expressed in a statement to the public. “It’s a roller coaster that gives guests an adrenaline rush and much more, because it takes them right into the heart of the Star Trek universe before the ride even begins, making them part of the story. We’re the only theme park to have secured an official Star Trek coaster license. Movie Park Germany collaborated closely with CBS Consumer Products in the USA to get this project off the ground, and it’s a real milestone for both partners.”

The ride isn’t the only attraction for fans of the sci-fi franchise. Visitors will be encapsulated by the full experience of what it means to be a member of Starfleet, as they must travel first through Federation Plaza, an area of over 1000 square meters (3280 square feet) that is filled with Star Trek-themed buildings. Once there, fans become engrossed in a true Star Trek story, as they become Starfleet cadets training for their first mission. The cadets will be able to see a holodeck, two transporter rooms, and a replica of the USS Enterprise NCC-1701-D bridge as it appeared in Star Trek: The Next Generation.

Here’s the story’s synopsis:

The Enterprise and her crew are on their way to a United Federation of Planets meeting when they are attacked by the Borg and taken aboard the enemy ship. The Enterprise is now unmanned and caught in a tractor beam. The only hope of rescue is the Starfleet cadets on the bridge of a nearby ship at the time of the attack. They are preparing to be launched out of their ship’s transporter room in shuttles on a rescue mission. This holodeck mission’s success depends on the cadets breaching the Borg ship’s deflector shield, destroying its main systems and saving the crew of the Enterprise. The mission itself begins when guests enter the triple launch coaster. Complementing the entire experience, the Budapest Philharmonic Orchestra recorded a full and rich soundtrack that can be heard both outside and inside the attraction.

The roller coaster itself will really take you on a journey, as it boasts a 40-meter high twisted halfpipe! Check out the sneak peek below!
